SHORT INFO

Wingman is a digital platform for automatic risk analysis (SORA) for drone flights in the Specific category. It helps to plan a flight route in the specific category, significantly reduce the time needed to assess risk and prepare documentation for aviation supervision in order to obtain permission for flights outside the open category and STS scenarios. The completed SORA report contains data that can be used as a comprehensive risk assessment, which is required to obtain an individual permit for drone operation, but also as an excellent basis for discussing your plans at a pre-application meeting with LBA representatives.

FOR WHOM

We recommend the Wingman platform for drone operators who:

  • Need to obtain individual flight authorisation because the OPEN category and STS standard scenarios are not sufficient for them.
  • Have already obtained a permit to operate in a general location and need a tool to verify and document the areas selected for flight (whether they fall within the boundary conditions specified by the LBA for the general permit obtained).
  • They need a reliable tool to determine the population density in the area of the planned operation.
  • They requires support in SORA risk assessment and are looking for accessible knowledge, collected and organised in a single, user-friendly environment.
  • They want to learn the SORA methodology step by step.

Wingman is a web-based software application that helps you to understand the risk of your planned drone flight, plan risk-reducing measures and comply with the legal requirements for authorisations. The risk analysis for flights in the specific category (SORA) in particular is ideally covered in wingman: by uploading your flight plan, wingman automatically determines the ground and air risk of your flight for you and then guides you intuitively through all the steps of the SORA. At the end, you can export the SORA report and attach it to your application with the authorities.

  • Faster flight planning
  • Less time required
  • Earlier approval
  • Digital access
  • Digital SORA report
  • Version and change control

Our risk map is the heart of wingman – it combines current data on ground and air risks with your input and visualises the risk of your flight in a granular but clear form. This allows you to quickly identify risks, make adjustments to your flight plan via wingman and calculate the new risk class.

Calculate the lateral and vertical expansion of the contingency volume and the dimensions of the required ground risk buffer automatically, saving you time-consuming manual calculations and avoiding calculation errors. Our community has confirmed that this feature can save a lot of time!

Step by step, wingman helps you enter all the necessary information about flight parameters and times, altitude and speed. You can either draw the flight plan directly in wingman or upload it as a file. You can easily assign the drone used, including its technical data, from the equipment pool. In a matter of seconds, you will receive your risk classes according to the SORA method.

In wingman, you can reduce ground and air risk in line with the options suggested by the SORA methodology by implementing mitigation measures. These are a very valuable tool for making a flight with an initially high risk feasible nonetheless. For each mitigation measure, you can define a robustness level and explain the measures taken. wingman then immediately shows you the effects of your mitigation measures on the risk.

Have you determined your final SAIL, declared TMPRs and OSOs, and checked your details one last time? Then you can complete the SORA and generate your SORA report. You can view this digitally at any time, print it, export it as a PDF, and even send it as a link to external parties, such as authorities. The structure of the SORA report has been deliberately chosen to help authorities process your application efficiently by providing clear and structured information.

Draw or upload your flight plan:

Quickly familiarise yourself with flight restrictions, population density and other risk factors in your flight area and create your flight plan accordingly.

Calculate the ground and air risk of your flight in seconds:

Upload your flight plan and you will receive an automatic risk assessment according to the SORA 2.5 or 2.0 method (ground risk, air risk, SAIL), including dynamic population data.

Detailed representation of your flight on the risk map:

Your operating area is divided into small sections and the risk is calculated for each of them, allowing you to optimise quickly. All relevant data sources are taken into account.

Have ground risk buffers, contingency volumes and neighbouring areas calculated automatically:

Choose from a variety of recognised calculation methods and gain flexibility. Find out the required containment level and derived requirements.

Reduce risk by applying mitigations:

Understand what mitigations are possible and select the appropriate ones. This reduces risk and increases the likelihood of obtaining approval.

SORA report for digital submission to your authority:

Complete the SORA and have your SORA report generated, which you can submit to the authorities via a link or as a document.

Purchase the application at a lower price together with drone equipment or a service to prepare a permit for flights in a special category. Our team of experts will prepare the best offer tailored to your needs. Examples of sets can be found below, but we can also prepare a set especially for you.
