According to EASA regulations across the European market, the A2 and/or STS license is valid for 5 years. After this period you must take the exam again.
After completing the refresher course and passing the final exam, your A2 license is converted to an STS license (higher status) and becomes valid for an additional five years.
We conduct exams as PStF 041 LBA examination center — after the exam you receive a German–English license. A fee of €30.00 is charged for issuing the remote pilot certificate.
The STS training is aimed at anyone who professionally or recreationally uses heavier DJI drones with higher C-class or older DJI drones without a declared C-class, to fly near people and buildings.
STS-T is one of the two required components to fly in STS 01 (VLOS) and STS 02 (BVLOS). To fly legally in these scenarios, you must also complete a practical assessment with a recognized examination body. Learn more about STS usage in our blog.
As with the A2 exam, you can schedule an exam date at any time if you didn’t set one during booking. Studying the STS content via self-study takes a bit longer — with prior knowledge, about 9 working hours (with breaks) are usually sufficient.
The exam is conducted entirely online and lasts up to 90 minutes — it consists of 60 questions. You must achieve at least 75% in the following sections:
