Experience Report on the Training "Inspection with Drones"

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the two-day inspection workshop offered by ProFlyCenter. This training was a true treasure trove of knowledge for me and provided a comprehensive introduction to the world of drone technology and applications. At the end of the course, you receive a DJI-certified certificate, which is offered only by ProFlyCenter as the sole DJI Authorized Flight School in Germany.

In this article, you will learn:

1. How the small group enables intensive, individualized learning.
2. Structure: DJI history, components, structure, remote control – explained clearly.
3. Practice after each theory block with the Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal outdoors.
4. Exercises: maneuvers, waypoints/procedures, software operation, planning routes & actions.
5. Safety features & applications: obstacle detection, RTH, high-res & thermal among others in solar roof inspections; Highlight: Matrice 350 RTK with H20T.
6. Legal framework & rules of conduct: what is allowed, how to behave correctly.
7. Team project, final test, and DJI-certified certificate; suitable for well-grounded beginners to advanced users, all questions were answered.

Intensive Learning in a Small Group

The training took place in a small group – with a focus on comprehensibility from minute one: DJI history, components, drone structure, and the remote control.

Practice after Every Theory Block

Immediately afterward, we went outside: practical exercises with the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal. This immediately solidified every theoretical section.

Workshop: Maneuvers, Procedures, Software

Simple maneuvers, pre-programmed procedures and recordings, as well as the software for programming flight routes – including actions at waypoints – were practiced.

Features & Use Cases

Obstacle detection and automatic return to home (RTH) were introduced, among other things. Particularly exciting: High-Resolution and thermal imaging recordings, e.g., for solar roof inspections. Highlight: flights with the Matrice 350 RTK and H20T.

Legal Framework

A fixed part was the law and the rules of conduct for drone pilots – what is allowed and how to behave correctly in various situations.

Team Project & Final Test

On the second day: working in pairs – conceiving a project and implementing it with the Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal. Subsequently, a theoretical test and the DJI certificate.

Who is it suitable for & Conclusion

Ideal for people with well-grounded basic knowledge, but advanced users also benefit thanks to comprehensive content and practice. Logical presentation, immediate application – and all questions were answered directly.
