TRAINING DETAILS:

Theoretical training with a final exam for all drone pilots who want to fly in the Open category – subcategory A2. There is plenty of extra knowledge about drones and their handling, everything about the new drone regulation, and we also discuss open questions in the group. Even if you only fly drones under 250 g (C0 class) or drones under 900 g (C1 class), you are in the right place here. This training prepares you optimally for handling your drone!

Catering is also provided with coffee, soft drinks, and snacks.

The practical training meets the requirements for the practical competence certificate and can be booked optionally. We are also happy to offer group rates.

For pilots who operate C2-classified drones with a maximum take-off mass of 4 kg, the full drone license, also called the A2 remote pilot certificate, is required by law. The UAS may then fly horizontally up to 30 m from uninvolved persons. If the drone’s slow mode is activated, the distance can even be reduced to up to 5 meters.

The A2 remote pilot certificate is of great importance for remote pilots who want to fly their unmanned aircraft in densely populated areas or closer to people. It is also the basis for special flight authorizations. It requires a deeper understanding of safety protocols, legal frameworks, and technical skills.

The EU A2 remote pilot certificate documents the competence of remote pilots according to point UAS.OPEN.030 of EU Regulation 2019/947 and is valid in all EU member states. This also includes Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland.

  • EU certificate of competence from subcategory A1/A3. Training and exam are conducted via the website of the German Federal Aviation Office (LBA). Use this link to register: https://lba-openuav.de/einstieg/
  • Self-training under the conditions of subcategory A3 (ideally carried out in an open field). You can find the template for the practical self-declaration here: (Self-declaration)
  • You can add practical training to the A2 training at PFC or in an additional training session with one of our experienced instructors
  • Minimum age: 16 years

Theoretical training:

1) Meteorology

  • How can weather influence the drone’s flight?
  • Evaluating weather data, helpful apps & tools
  • Weather phenomena

2) UAS flight performance

  • Typical applications and use cases of unmanned aircraft
  • Mass, positioning, and location of the center of gravity
  • Securing payloads / cameras
  • Safe handling of batteries
  • GEO zones / flight zones
  • GPS & radio
  • Flight modes and RTH
  • e.g.: training slide

3) Technical and operational mitigation of ground risks

  • Functions in slow flight mode
  • Inspection of the takeoff and landing site
  • Estimating distance to people, buildings, and obstacles
  • The 1:1 rule
  • Thumb-jump method
  • Flight altitude and distance

4) Additional content

  • Event reporting
  • Risk management

Practical training / practical competence certificate (optional for a fee):

In addition to theoretical knowledge, completion of practical self-training under the operating conditions for UAS of subcategory A3 is also required as a prerequisite for admission to the A2 remote pilot certificate exam.

This actually means practical training carried out by the remote pilot themselves. A testing center appointed by the Federal Aviation Office is not required for this.

Not all drones meet the FFO’s required conditions, such as flying without GPS, and there is often uncertainty when carrying out the flight exercises. Pro Fly Center offers tailored practical training (duration depends on the number of participants and each participant’s experience) with a subsequent test for beginners and advanced users. The training is conducted according to the European guidelines AMC2 UAS.OPEN.030 by an experienced instructor using DJI drones.

  • You practice & fly all scenarios required by the FFO
  • The duration depends on the number of participants and the experience of each participant (max. 1 hour per participant)

the following is trained and tested:

  • Preflight check
  • Takeoff & landing
  • Flight exercises / slow flight mode
  • Flying figures
  • Approaching an object
  • Climb
  • Descent
  • Estimating distances
  • RTH
  • Loss of orientation
  • Emergency landing
  • Flight without GPS

  • Theoretical training with exam
  • Training materials
  • Processing fee
  • Provision of the drone for the duration of the practical training
  • Access to the learning portal for 6 months after completing the training
  • Pro Fly Center support
  • Practical training / practical competence certificate (optional for a fee)
